Ubisoft, the famous video game company, is facing some big trouble right now. It has been reported that the company is being hit with a lawsuit in the United States that claims the company has been sharing users' personal data with Meta, the company that owns Facebook and Instagram, without telling people about it. This lawsuit could turn into a big problem for Ubisoft, which has already been dealing with a lot of issues recently.

Ubisoft Allegedly Shared User Data With Meta

The main problem here is with a tool called Pixel, which belongs to Meta. Pixel is used to collect information from people when they visit a website. In this case, when people go to Ubisoft’s website, buy a game, or subscribe to Ubisoft+, their information might be taken by Pixel and sent back to Meta. The lawsuit says that Ubisoft didn’t tell its users this was happening, which is a big no-no.

People are really upset because they think Ubisoft should have been clear about what it was doing with their data. The complaint also says that Ubisoft didn’t ask for permission before sharing this personal information, which might include things like a person’s name or other details that can identify them. If this is true, it means Ubisoft could be breaking a law that protects people's private information.

This is not the first time Ubisoft has faced trouble. Earlier this year, the company’s stock prices took a big hit because some of their games, like "Skull and Bones" and "Star Wars Outlaws," didn’t do as well as they had hoped. Because of these failures, Ubisoft had to change their plans and even delay the release of "Assassin’s Creed Shadows" until 2025. They also made changes to their business strategy to make things easier and more attractive for players.

There are also rumors that Tencent, a huge gaming company from China, might be looking to buy Ubisoft with help from the Guillemot family, who founded Ubisoft. If that happens, Ubisoft could go through some big changes, and this lawsuit might make things even messier for the company.

Right now, the lawsuit hasn’t been approved as a class action yet, which means it’s still in the early stages. But if it does go forward, the people suing Ubisoft want to see some serious action taken. They’re asking for money to be paid to everyone affected and for Ubisoft to either stop using Pixel or at least tell people about it before it shares their data.

Ubisoft needs to fix things fast before it runs out of time and money. This reported lawsuit could cost a lot if it goes through, and right now, it’s not clear if Ubisoft even has the money to handle this kind of situation.
