It’s official: The Legend of Zelda is getting a live-action adaptation. The project is backed by well-known producers: Shigeru Miyamoto, the creative force behind Zelda, Avi Arad (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse), and Wes Ball (Maze Runner), who will also direct. According to Production List, filming is set to begin in November 2025 and will run until April 2026. The movie will be shot in New Zealand, a landscape already famous for its role in major fantasy productions – Lord of the Rings, for example.

Industry insider Daniel Richtman reports that Nintendo and Sony Pictures are not just planning a single film but an entire trilogy. The lead roles are expected to be cast for three movies spanning six years. However, there has been no official confirmation yet.
