Dragon Age: The Veilguard is almost here, and now you need to decide which version to get (if you're setting on buying the game). Here is a breakdown of all the bonuses you get with the Deluxe Edition.
It’s been nearly ten years since we last got a new Dragon Age game, but the wait is almost over. Dragon Age: The Veilguard, the highly anticipated entry in the fantasy saga from Bioware, launches on October 31. It's available for pre-order across PC, Xbox, and PlayStation platforms.
If you’re excited to return to the realm of Thedas, then you need to decide between the Standard Edition ($69.99 on console and $59.99 on PC), which only contains the base game, or the Deluxe Edition ($89.99 on console and $79.99 on PC), which also includes a number of cosmetic bonuses. Here's a breakdown of what you get with the Deluxe Edition of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, to help you decide.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard Deluxe Edition bonuses
The deluxe edition of Dragon Age: The Veilguard includes everything from the standard edition, along with additional cosmetic outfits and weapon skins for Rook and their companions. These extras cost an additional $20 compared to the standard version.
Cosmetic bonuses for Rook (the playable character)
The following bonuses are for your own character, and you get armor for each class, so don't worry about missing out depending on how you make your character.
Armor Set Appearances for each Class (Rogue, Mage, Warrior)
6 Weapon Appearances
Cosmetic bonuses for your Companions (the NPCs)
These bonuses are exclusively for your Companions, but it's still important to make sure the entire gang is looking slick.
7 Armor Set Appearances
7 Weapon Appearances
As you can see, all the weapons and armor you get with the Deluxe Edition share a gold color scheme. These certainly won't be the best looking pieces of equipment in the game, that would be ridiculous as you would have no reason to hunt for better gear, but they certainly look better than the default alternatives.
Should you buy the Deluxe Edition?
Deciding between the Standard and Deluxe editions comes down to how much you value the additional cosmetic content. Because with this game, there's no other extras like early access to consider.
If you’re someone who enjoys outfitting your characters with unique skins and want extra bonuses for your companions, then the deluxe edition might be worth the extra $20. But... we don't think it will be worth it for most of you, especially given how mid a lot of the Deluxe Edition skins are. At least in our opinion.
If you’re more focused on the core gameplay and story, the standard edition should suffice.
Now that you’ve seen what both editions have to offer, which one are you leaning toward? Is the Deluxe Edition worth the extra investment for you?
