Following Valve's Regional Standings Update on November 25, Perfect World has unveiled the opening matchups for the CS2 Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024. The event promises to deliver top-tier competition as it kicks off on November 30.
The tournament begins with the Opening Stage, a five-round Swiss phase where only the advancement and elimination matches will adopt a best-of-three format. At the conclusion of this stage, the top eight teams will progress to the Elimination Stage, while the bottom eight will be eliminated.
The seeding is done, and the opening matches are set!
Europe’s dominance in the CS2 scene continues to be a focal point after the PGL Copenhagen Major earlier this year saw a European-only playoff bracket. Reflecting this, the top eight European seeds from the Regional Standings have been granted direct entry into the Elimination Stage.
The 8 teams that are starting in the Elimination Stage are: Reigning champions Natus Vincere, alongside FaZe Clan, Vitality, G2 Esports, MOUZ, HEROIC, Spirit, and 3DMAX.
Notably, BIG Clan and Virtus Pro narrowly missed out on the top-eight seeding, despite BIG going 3-0 in the European RMR.
