Exciting times ahead for Avatar fans; filming has begun for Avatar 3, and it's setting up to be a visual masterpiece. Slated for a December 19, 2025, release (according to Hollywood Reporter), this sequel will continue exploring the intricate world of Pandora and its inhabitants.

News about the filming was first shared via an Instagram post by Joel David Moore, the actor behind Norm Spellman in the Avatar movies, who shared some fresh photos from on set in New Zealand:

Director James Cameron is taking us deeper into the alien world by introducing a new, darker Na'vi tribe known as the 'Ash People' according to an exclusive interview at ComicBook. These new characters will be led by Oona Chaplin, an actress famous for her role in Game of Thrones. This tribe will showcase a new biome, possibly volcanic in nature, aligning with their fiery essence.

What Is Going To Happen In Avatar 3?

The narrative will delve into the aftermath of the events presented in The Way of Water, where the emotional toll on characters like Jake and Neytiri will be explored in greater depth. The story will also expand on the connections between the Na'vi and the other creatures of Pandora, especially the bond with the tulkun, a whale-like creature that has become a fan favorite.

As always, the landscapes of Pandora will be significant, not just as a backdrop but as an integral part of the storyline. These stunning visuals are set to mesmerize audiences, possibly making us forget the plot as we immerse ourselves in the world Cameron has crafted.

The anticipation builds as more details emerge, promising a sequel that not only expands its universe but also deepens the emotional connections we've come to cherish from the Avatar series.
