U.S. senator Bernie Sanders streamed a public Q&A together with various Twitch streamers to discuss several political topics.

Bernie Sanders meets Vtuber Sykkuno

Just yesterday, Bernie Sanders — ironically best known for memes — was streaming on Twitch together with a couple of famous Twitch streamers to discuss the current state of politics in the U.S.

Those who first greeted Sanders when he joined the video call were AustinShow, the host, Pokimane, who sported an outfit inspired by the "Bernie Sanders mittens" meme and Sykkuno, a vtuber.

Sykkuno quickly explained to Sanders why he couldn't show his actual face on camera and was instead using an avatar, which lead to a hilarious, yet brief conversation.

"Have you heard of a Vtuber before?" Sykkuno asked, to which Sanders simply replied: "Nope!"

This sent a few giggles through the call as Sykkuno cheerfully exclaimed: "No? I'm the first one! Woohoo!" and jokingly added: "Thank you so much for supporting Vtubers!"

Seeing Sanders' confusion, Pokimane quickly added the explanation: "It's when they have this animated profile."

"Well, there you are," Sanders replied with a smile. "You're looking good!"

The conversation was short-lived, but quickly went viral as viewers clipped this moment and shared it anywhere they could. It was clearly another home run for Sanders.

As @therealpanzer on X/Twitter tweeted:

It's certainly interesting to see politicians, especially the oldest among them, try to interact with younger voters — be it through traditional media or live streams. But certainly, being open to discussions like this is one of the reasons Sanders is so beloved. Even if he doesn't "get it", he's got the right spirit.
