Asmongold is a popular Twitch streamer and content creator, who built a massive following playing World of Warcraft and other MMORPGs.

While primarily a gaming streamer, Asmongold often dives into broader topics, including social issues and current events. Recently, he's ventured into political discussions, something that’s become more common in his streams, including this past week.

Asmongold: "I don't give a f***. They're terrible people"

Asmongold operates two Twitch channels: his main one, "Asmongold," and a secondary account, "Zackrawrr." In October 2023, he explained that streaming on his main channel had become overwhelming for him, prompting him to shift toward more casual sessions on Zackrawrr.

It was on this secondary account, Zackrawrr, where he began speaking about Palestinians to his audience. He made a number of offensive remarks about Palestine and has subsequently been banned on Twitch. Although the original VOD has been deleted, the entire tirade was clipped and shared on social media.

He told his audience that he wasn't going "to cry a f****** river" over people from an "inferior culture" who have "genocide baked into their laws". He went on to describe Palestinians as "not the same as us" in his rant:

If you wanna consider a genocide as a systematic killing of a group of people, they have genocide built into Sharia law right now. So no, I'm not going to cry a f****** river when people who have genocide that's baked into their laws are getting genocided. I don't give a f***. They're terrible people. It's not even a question. It's crazy that people don't see it that way. They'd be doing the same thing. These people are not your allies. They are not the same as us. They come from an inferior culture that is horrible. It kills people for their identity, and it is directly antithetical to everything western values stand for. And it is an inferior culture in all ways. It is that simple. No, I don't feel bad for them. I don't feel sorry for them. I don't care. I don't support them.

Many of the audience were understandably outraged and took to social media in an attempt to cancel him. And while he does have defenders, they're clearly in the minority.

@CapriSunnPapi clipped a segment of said rant and replied, asking Asmongold:

"What about my 'culture' makes it okay to genocide my friends/family?"

But it wasn't just the audience who took offense, Twitch took official action and banned the streamer for breaching community guidelines, which do "not permit behavior that is motivated by hatred, prejudice or intolerance, including behavior that promotes or encourages discrimination, denigration, harassment, or violence".

Asmongold later tweeted an apology:

This apology largely fell on deaf ears, however, with many demanding that he properly say, "I'm sorry".

Others noted the hypocrisy of the streamer, who last year tweeted:

Weird as f*** to see so many people coming out with statements about the Israel/Palestine conflict as if they need to comment on it. Can we please stop this weird culture around expecting people with no relevant background or education to talk about world events/politics.

It's still unclear why someone with no relevant background or education like Asmongold would speak on the Israel/Palestine conflict, with almost nothing to gain and everything to lose.

What are your thoughts on Asmongold's latest disaster? Do you think his apology was enough, and can he come back from this?

As always, please remember to stay civil in the comments and treat each other with respect.
