A controversial sniper rifle that was already considered overpowered may soon return to Fortnite with an even deadlier edge, according to a recent leak.

Reputable leaker HYPEX has claimed that Fortnite’s upcoming update, scheduled to arrive on March 11, will introduce several Exotic weapons. Among the leaked weapons is the Reaper Sniper Rifle, a devastating long-range gun that first appeared in Chapter 5 and quickly gained notoriety for its incredible damage and swift fire rate.

The Reaper Sniper Rifle’s Return

The rifle originally debuted alongside Fortnite’s new weapon attachment system, allowing players to tweak it with various scopes, magazines, and barrels. However, even without modifications, the Reaper was a formidable choice, capable of eliminating opponents with just a few well-placed shots.

Though the weapon has since made a limited return in the Ballistic game mode, leaks now suggest it could be on its way back to Fortnite’s core battle royale experience.

A More Powerful Version on the Horizon

HYPEX’s leak suggests that Fortnite’s next update will feature several new Exotic-tier weapons, including the Jump Rocket, Collateral AR, Hunting Rifle, Slap Cannon, and, most notably, the Reaper Sniper Rifle.

However, this won’t be the same version of the gun that players remember. The leaked information claims that the Reaper Sniper will now include a tracking mechanic, allowing players to follow damaged enemies after landing a hit. This means escaping a well-aimed shot may become even more difficult, reinforcing the weapon’s reputation as a high-risk, high-reward tool in the hands of skilled snipers.

Exotic weapons in Fortnite are known for being the rarest tier of items, often sharing base stats with their Legendary counterparts while offering a unique ability or perk. In this case, the tracking feature is expected to make the Reaper Sniper even more dangerous than its previous iterations. Combined with its existing power and a possible boost to fire rate or damage, this update could cement the rifle as one of the most dominant weapons in the game.

What to Expect in the March 11 Update

While leaks have revealed a promising arsenal of weapons, it’s important to remember that nothing is official until Epic Games makes an announcement. So far, the only confirmed additions for Fortnite’s March 11 update include three new weapons – the Rocket Drill, Pump & Dump, and Outlaw Shotgun. Additionally, this patch will introduce Outlaw Midas as an unlockable character.

As always, players should take leaks with a grain of salt. Epic Games has been known to adjust or even scrap planned content before release, meaning the return of the Reaper Sniper Rifle isn’t set in stone just yet. However, if the leaks hold true, Fortnite’s next update could bring one of its most notorious weapons back into play – stronger than ever before.
