Ubisoft hosted a Q&A in the AC Shadows Discord server, in which they announced their plan to scrap three-day Early Access for pre-orders and the Season Pass.

No Season Pass or Early Access, is this a promising move from Ubisoft?

After the poor reception Star Wars Outlaws received, Ubisoft decided to delay Assassin's Creed Shadows to February 14, 2025. And now, as if in an act of penance to the community, they are also seemingly doing away with three-day Early Access and Season Passes.

As a result of removing, these bonuses, the Collector's Edition has been reduced in price, from $280 to $230. So far, so good.

Ubisoft has not given an official explanation for the changes, but we're fairly confident that they want to win back the hearts of gamers by ceasing a lot of the practices consumers most hate, like Early Access and Season Passes from the day of launch. In a similar vein, they've also started releasing games on Steam rather than exclusively via Ubisoft Connect, which was definitely a crowd-pleaser.

We hope it works for Ubisoft, and we'll be monitoring the release of AC Shadows closely. A huge amount hinges on this title's success.
