Baldur's Gate 3: Player Beats The Game Without A Race Or Class

People can't get enough of Baldur's Gate 3 (it's me, I am people). Even better, that there are people who share that obsession in, well, a special way.

We’ve officially entered the phase of Baldur’s Gate 3 where players are hellbent on finding the most absurd ways to complete the game. Enter YouTuber Bouch, who previously proved you could beat the game as a sentient wheel of cheese. Now, he’s back with an even more ridiculous question: Can you finish Baldur’s Gate 3 without a race or class? Spoiler alert – yes, you can, if you’re willing to break the game in unusual ways.

How to Be a Literal Nobody

The trick to this challenge lies in modding. First, you remove all racial bonuses – no elf dexterity, no dwarf resilience, just a blank slate of a character. Then, you strip away class abilities, meaning no spells, no special attacks, and definitely no barbarian rage to fall back on. What’s left? A painfully underwhelming husk of a protagonist who must rely solely on game knowledge, clever exploits, and the generosity of magical items to survive. It turns out, magic items do a lot of heavy lifting in Baldur’s Gate 3. With no abilities of his own, Bouch had to get creative – abusing the effects of various enchanted gear, ingesting an alarming number of mind flayer tadpoles, and making strategic use of gravity (read: shoving enemies off cliffs).NPCs also played an unknowing role in his success, as a few well-timed spell casts from unsuspecting allies helped push things along. But the real MVP? Speedrunner tricks. Bouch sprinted through walls, leaped over chasms, and skipped entire battles with the precision of someone who has thoroughly broken Larian’s masterpiece. Watch that chaotic masterpiece here.

Was It Hard? Apparently Not

Despite its absurdity, Bouch admits that this run was surprisingly manageable. "This one was honestly easier than I thought it would be," he said. So, what’s next? Baldur’s Gate 3, but your character is permanently on fire? A pacifist run where you negotiate with every single enemy? Whatever it is, Bouch will probably find a way to make it work. And we’ll be here, watching in horrified fascination.
