MMO Tibia was first released in 1997 – now, it's getting its first class update since then.

On the MMO market, Tibia has been a classic for decades. Now, a new vocation will be added to the game for the first time since 1997. Find out more about the Monk:
A Fifth Vocation Added After Almost 30 Years
CipSoft, the developers of the free massively multiplayer online role-playing game have released a short teaser announcing a new class, or vocation, as the game calls it:
Since 1997, players have been able to choose between four vocations: Druid, Knight, Sorcerer and Paladin. Now, after almost 30 years, the Monk will be the game's fifth class. With Knights and Paladins being specialized in physical combat while Sorcerers and Druids are masters of magic, Monks are now a class that combines both melee weapon combat and magic.
The game's developers have described this new concept on Tibia's news blog:
The Monk will be a melee fighter capable of supporting and healing allies while using martial arts and mystical abilities to defeat enemies. The great truth seeker will have some very special features, such as harmony, virtues or serene. - CipSoft
CipSoft also stresses that they did their best to make the new vocation blend in, to provide unique abilities such as spells and weapons without diminishing the value of the other classes.
Featured Articles Provide An Overview
The game's news blog already provides a featured article where 'Niadus', the leading product manager, explains the Monk's unique gameplay features in more detail. Also, five more featured articles as well as additional content on lore, spells and items are planned for the next few weeks. So new and old Tibia fans will be able to learn everything they might need or want to know.
On February 25, then, gamers will get the chance to try out the Monk by themselves because that's when external testing launches! CipSoft is looking for feedback from the community to perfect the new mechanics. Once this is done, the class will be permanently added later this year.
