Cult of the Lamb has recently had to say goodbye to its audio director.

River Boy

Narayana Johnson, who went by the alias River Boy, was Cult of the Lamb's audio director. He helped compose the game's iconic soundtrack and some of the villagers' noises in the roguelike.

His soundtrack was also the basis for the Cult of the Lamb metal album that was composed mainly by the artist Pick Up Goliath, who had a chat about the game's music with River Boy back when the album was released:

A Heartfelt Goodbye

Sadly, Cult of the Lamb has now had to say goodbye to Narayana Johnson far too early, as he recently passed away. Massive Monster took to X to express their grief and honor his achievements:

With a small developer studio, Cult of the Lamb strongly feels this loss. Fans of the game offered their condolences:

I would listen to their songs during my time drawing or studying for my classes. He’ll forever live on through his work in the game, my deepest condolences to the team and River’s family. Please take all the time you guys need🫂🌸 Rip River Boy - @CharlotteRoseO4 on X
This is really tragic news - my condolences❤️ The COTL soundtrack truly is something really special and it's been on rotation quite heavily this last year. Will take a moment to think about him next time i put it on. Much love and hugs to family and loved ones... - @BlueGoesFast

This is certainly a big loss for this community, River Boy was able to create instantly recognizable tunes that matched the game's atmosphere perfectly. Currently, it is not known if Cult of the Lamb will get a new composer, not that Johnson could be replaced.

At this time, Massive Monster still needs time to mourn, and, of course, we also want to express our condolences. We'll think of him the next time we hear the wonderful signature COTL melody.
