Hideo Kojima presented the upcoming Death Stranding 2: On the Beach during a special stage presentation at the Tokyo Game Show. We expected the presentation would end with a release date reveal, but due to "unforeseen circumstances" this did not happen.

Death Stranding 2 is "only about 30-40%" complete

During a special stage presentation for Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, Hideo Kojima claimed that they already have a release date in mind:

I haven’t said the release date today, but the release date has already been decided, and I’m currently working on it in preparation for that.

Later in the presentation, he was able to at least narrow it down to 2025:

Since we are talking about 2025, it will be released next year, so we will announce it at some point next year. But, due to some unforeseen circumstances, we cannot announce it today. ”

He couldn't specify what these unforeseen circumstances actually were, but he told the audience that Death Stranding 2 is "only about 30-40%" complete.

Because of Kojima's friendship with Geoff Keighley, fans are speculating that the release date will be announced at the Game Awards 2024. This is believable enough, but it's just speculation.

Do you think the game will be finished in 2025, if it is still only "30-40%" complete? We have our doubts.
