Don't worry: The Witcher 4 will keep the most important feature

Let's all breathe a sigh of relief: The upcoming Witcher 4 will still feature the best part of the game.

The Witcher 3 is still one of the best games to date – there's no question about that. We've got epic fights, we've got sidequests that beat other AAA-titles easily in terms of storytelling (and sometimes even length), we've got some of the most memorable characters in video game history, and that doesn't even remotely cover everything that made the game a must-play for everyone.

With a first look at the highly anticipated sequel at The Game Awards, the hype for The Witcher 4 is bigger than ever. Of course, one question remained for fans of the franchise: will there be Gwent? After all, that's what The Witcher 3 was all about, wasn't it...?

Gwent in The Witcher: A minigame turned fan-favorite

I can't be the only one, can I? The Witcher 3 is an absolutely epic adventure and the search for Ciri pulled at gamers' heartstrings worldwide, making for a unique sense of pressure and the very real desire to find Geralt's daughter (being related by blood doesn't mean a thing, let me tell you), but if a tavern keeper wanted to play a good old game of Gwent, the whole thing had to take a backseat.

Gwent best game ever

Collecting cards, building the perfect deck and travelling through the vast open world to get the best cards in Gwent quickly became one of the best features in the whole game – and that's saying something, considering The Witcher 3 is a masterpiece in so many other ways. And don't even get me started on the Gwent soundtrack.

So, it comes as no surprise that fans wanted to know if Gwent will be a part of Ciri's upcoming adventure in The Witcher 4 as well. In an interview with Easy Allies, Sebastian Kalemba and Gosia Mitręga – Game Director and executive producer of The Witcher 4 – told us exactly what we wanted to hear:

We love Gwent. We really love the game, and we also really carefully listen to the community, which we also love. I don't think anyone will be disappointed – it's a part of the experience, so absolutely.

Thank you, Projekt Red, from the bottom of my heart! By the way, for everyone that doesn't want to wait for The Witcher 4 to dive into Gwent again, there's a standalone game as well – check it out right here!

Be honest – how often did you get sidetracked by a game of Gwent with a random peasant? And even more important, what's your strategy to win each and every game? Let us know in the comments!
