Eternal Strands will be released in late January with a demo being launched a week prior.
Mike Laidlaw – former creative director of Dragon Age – will launch his new game Eternal Strands for January 28 and just recently announced a demo version to be released just a week prior to give gamers a taste of it.
On Bluesky, Laidlaw wrote:
It's January, so I’m pleased we can say we're going to release a playable demo of Eternal Strands on Jan. 21st on Steam. Lots of folks have been asking about one, and it's a game that benefits from 'feeling' it, I think.
The world is your weapon
Eternal Strand will heavily focus on physics-based interactions – so much actually, that even its Steam description is more about how you will do things in the game than why.
On the Steam page, it says:
Explore the wilds, the capital city of Dynevron, and the secrets beneath as every surface is climbable. Magical abilities can create bridges, burn barriers, or launch Brynn across the world. The next-generation physics system encourages and rewards player creativity in exploration as much as combat. As the Enclave's secrets unfold, return to base camp to consult with a rich cast of characters.
Players are still excited about the basic ideas of the game and the potential to cause chaos it might bring.
Upcoming demo
So far, we don’t know how much content the demo will contain, but it seems like Laidlaw is more than excited to present his new project as soon as possible to the gaming community.
Mentioning the difference to earlier games he was involved in, he wrote:
It’s been such a sharp context shift for me. 60 people instead of hundreds, indie budget instead of AAA, and so on. My two big hopes: people have fun, and I can keep working with this team. YBG crew has been professionally rejuvenating.
It seems like fans will have to wait until the launch of the demo to really get a grip on what Eternal Strands is supposed to be and if Laidlaw’s vision can meet expectations.
Are you excited for Eternal Strands? What do you expect from the game to be?
