Epic Games has taken some strict measures against a Fortnite cheater - might it prevent other players from cheating?

For a long time, Fortnite players have been complaining about how reporting cheaters barely does anything. Now, Epic Games has made an example of a cheating Fortnite creator:
Cheating in Fortnite
Unfortunately, encountering cheaters in Fortnite isn't a rare phenomenon - on the contrary, some long-term players who have known the game for years have stated that cheating is getting far more common. The community regularly takes to the official Battle Royale subreddit to complain about this issue:
You used to see an obvious cheater maybe 1 out of 15-20 games years ago. Now it seems you come across 1 every other match. And it’s obvious, knowing where you are at, connecting shots from behind walls, headshots in a row when you are running and jumping from a distance etc. - u/GuardianofM on Reddit
So there are various different cheats that are fairly common in the game - wallhacks that enable players to see others through walls, aimbots that give them the ability to constantly hit headshots even while moving, etc. The issue is that, since Epic typically doesn't notice this without reports, players have to basically guess who should be reported and who might actually be good or just lucky.
Unfortunately, many players have the attitude of "If others do it, I should be allowed to do it, too", making the problem get progressively worse. And the players that do want to play honestly have been complaining that reporting cheaters isn't effective enough.
Well, now Epic Games has taken some serious steps against a cheater and we'll see how that plays out in the future.
Epic Games Humiliates Cheater
A Fortnite content creator, Morgan Bamford who goes by the handle "RepulseGod", has now faced some serious consequences for cheating. RepulseGod qualified for the FNCS 2023 Global Championship - Fortnite's biggest championship which in that year had a prize pool of $4m.
RepulseGod teamed up with another player, Jace, in the 2023 FNCS Major 3 as a duo, securing a spot in the Grand Finals. However, they were disqualified just a day before the event began. According to FortniteTracker, the duo still received $10,000 for their performance.
As it turned out, RepulseGod was sharing his account with another player to qualify - which isn't allowed by Fortnite's rules. Now, Epic Games has made a public statement on Fortnite Competitive's official X account:
Cheating is never a winning strat. We took legal action against a player who shared their account to unfairly qualify for FNCS. Now they're banned from Fortnite tournaments forever and their undeserved prize money was donated to charity. Here's their message to the Fortnite...

After a lawsuit issued by Epic Games, the cheater had his prize money taken away and Epic donated it to charity instead. He's also banned from Fortnite tournaments for life. But it didn't stop there: To add insult to injury, Epic also made him post an apology video on his account.
The video consists of a written apology, doesn't reveal his face and is only 20 seconds long. This is the statement:
Hey everyone, this is RepulseGod.
I shared my Epic Games Account with another user, Forbes, to qualify for the 2024 Fortnite Championship Series grand finals. My actions violated Epic's rules and I was disqualified from the tournament.
Epic took legal action against me and now I'm banned from participating in Fortnite tournaments forever. I also have to pay a monetary settlement, which includes the prize money I received but did not win fairly, which Epic will donate to charity.
Cheating in tournaments ruins the fun for the players who earned their spot in tournaments and I apologise to the Fortnite community for my actions. I won’t ever cheat in Fortnite again. - Morgan "RepulseGod" Bamford

The undeserved prize money is now instead going to Child's Play, an organization that provides therapeutic games and technology to pediatric hospitals, enhancing the lives of young patients through the power of play.
As was to be expected, the community didn't show a lot of understanding toward RepulseGod, with many comments laughing at him, stating that he of course won't be cheating anymore if he's been banned for life and calling him a coward for making his apology video anonymous.
Unfortunately, this single case of Epic actually making a cheater face serious consequences for their actions doesn't necessarily mean that they'll also prevent players from cheating in matches that don't offer prize money. We'll see how this issue will be handled in the future.
