PUBG Mobile Esports is still doing great and among the most popular esport titles out there. One Indian team recently won the Indian pro series (BMPS) of 2025 and secured a spot for the World Cup. But the Team's name and especially one player's name have sparked a lot of criticism.

The Indian team was called Team Aryan x TMG, which raised a lot of eyebrows. Some defended the name, saying it means "noble" in Sanskrit. But not only is the leader of the team also named Aryan, another player also chose the name "Hitler" to go along with it.

Apology And Name-Change

After the team got criticized for their name choice, they quickly changed it to Team AxTMG. "Hitler" was restricted of entering the World Cup under that name and changed it to "Henry". The team also apologized to everyone who was hurt by the names. "Henry" gave a lengthier apology on his Instagram account, in which he stated that he used it without fully considering the weight and historical pain associated with it.

Hitler In India

Let's address the elephant in the room: How was a player with the name "Hitler" even allowed to compete? The problem stems from India's handling of the Holocaust and Hitler, which later bore strange fruits. In India, Holocaust-studies is a most neglected subject. The Second World War is barely taught in schools and thus many people in India don't have a deeper understanding of the World War 2

The name Hitler even became sort of a slang word, which means "strict". That's why a show named "Hitler Didi" – about a strict older sister – exists in India. With that explanation in mind, the naming of the team is maybe a bit less shocking, but still just as tasteless. Especially since you probably google the name you want to use officially and look up what's behind those words you use.
