After a nearly two-year-long hiatus, Nintendo has decided to rev up the engines of their Mobile-Mario-making machine and deliver new content to their controversially-monetized portable fun racing game. ... No, not the one you're thinking of, the other one.

Carrying Over Elements From World To Tour

After the impressive run of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on Nintendo Switch, the company behind the franchise juggernaut recently ushered in its new era of hardware by releasing the official follow-up as a launch title: Mario Kart World for Nintendo Switch 2 turned many heads upon its reveal and has proven a sales success despite its comparatively high price point.

Despite this, fans have been left wanting more, with much of the online discourse surrounding the game being marked by speculation concerning the addition of new content via updates.

Especially considering the abundance of costumes and karts present in Nintendo's 2019 free-to-play mobile game Mario Kart Tour, which had continued to receive active development support up until early 2023, the company's strategy appeared to be obvious: Add new elements to their gambling-driven mobile game first, then bring them over to a "real" Mario Kart.

Now, however, the opposite seems to be true.

What's Being Brought Over

As part of a promotional campaign to advertise Mario Kart World in Mario Kart Tour, as of today, new character outfits and karts from the former are being added to the latter. This marks the first signal of support for Tour for the first time in nearly two years.

Out of Mario Kart World's impressive lineup of karts and costumes for the purpose of player expression, Nintendo has decided to port the following from World to Tour:

How To Earn The New Items

For players wishing to benefit from Nintendo's renewed interest in their formerly-abandoned mobile game: Be quick!

In order to unlock these promotional representations of Mario Kart World, you'll have to participate in in-game challenges, which are part of the so-called "Mario Kart World Special Campaign".

This event only lasts from today (July 23, 2025) through August 8, 2025.
