After there have already been rumors about it, Variety now reports about Amazon producing a TV show based on the Mass Effect franchise, but fans might not be too hyped about the team working on it.

As Variety confirmed, Amazon is working on a Mass Effect series, but it seems likely that the show will not retell the saga of Commander Shepherd but its very own, new story.

The team working on Prime's Mass Effect

The alleged writer and executive producer is Daniel Casey, who until now is best known as screenwriter for Fast and FuriousF9: The Fast Saga. Another producer will be Ari Arad, who has at least some experience with video game adaptationts since he worked on the Borderlands and the Uncharted movies (think of those movies what you will...), as well as the live-action adaptation of the anime Ghost in the Shell.

At least Karim Zreik – another addition to the Mass Effect team – seems to have a really great reputation, working in the short-lived Marvel Television unit, which produced great shows like Daredevil and Jessica Jones for Netflix, before Disney started their own MCU-connected shows on Disney+.

It will be quite interesting to see if the team is capable of capturing the spirit of the Mass Effect games in the show, since they often heavily focus on the impact the player’s choice has – something TV simply can't do.

There's no release date or cast to report just yet, but we'll keep you posted!

What do you think about a Mass Effect show? Which kind of story would you like they series to tell?
