Earlier this week, the Monster Hunter community were in shambles. A Chinese content creator was claiming that the demo of the upcoming Monster Hunter game being shown at the Tokyo Game Show was struggling to hit 30 fps. A new gameplay stream confirms that the game can, in fact, run at 60 fps.
Monster Hunter fans have been waiting six years for a new game, and thankfully for them, we're getting Monster Hunter Wilds on February 28, 2025. The hype was disrupted earlier this week, however, thanks to claims made by a Chinese content creator who attended the Tokyo Game Show and played the demo. These claims have now been refuted by an even more recent gameplay stream.
Monster Hunter Wilds stream proves the game can hit 60 fps
Earlier this week, Chinese content creator Dog Feeding Club (don't ask) reported that Monster Hunter Wilds was very poorly optimized and was struggling to reach 30 fps on a base PS5, or at least, that was their experience from playing a demo at the Tokyo Games Show. Understandably, this caused outrage; 30 fps is simply not good enough in 2024.
But, a few days later, there was then an official gameplay stream of Monster Hunter Wilds that ran for 40 minutes, in which the game was clearly running at close to 60 fps. It wasn't perfectly consistent, but far better than the previous rumor from Dog Feeding Club had suggested.
What has probably happened here is that the demo version made available to the public was an older build of the game, whereas the official gameplay stream was showing a more recent build. Whatever the reason, we're glad our fellow Monster Hunter fans don't need to buy a PS5 pro to enjoy the game.
Will you be playing Monster Hunter Wilds when it releases next February? And would you buy it even if it was locked at 30 fps?
