Atari's new handheld Console might not be a direct answer to the Nintendo Switch 2 – but still looks like a fun new way to play old games.

Atari just revealed its new console

Ahead of CES 2025, a new handheld console has been revealed officially, but it is not the sequel to the Nintendo Switch. The Atari Gamestation Go brings retro vibes and feelings into a very bright, new future.

The announcement trailer might be short, but it’s enough to raise our interest: The design definitely reminds us of the Switch, featuring triggers and four buttons on the front, but also comes with some new stuff... from the past.

It comes with a keypad and a Trak-Ball, old devices used for different games, so you can play classic games like they were played back in the day.

Comeback of Atari classics?

The reveal doesn’t come as a total surprise since an early version of the Gamestation Go was available for testing at the CES 2024 – then called Gamestation Portable.

So far, we don’t know what kind of games will be available for the console but given the fact that the design screams retro, we’re pretty sure that Atari will mainly focus on ports of classic games in an all new, portable manner.

What do you think about the Gamestation Go? Which games would you like to play on Atari's new handheld console?
