Nintendo has announced that the Gold Points rewards program will be discontinued.

Nintendo has announced that the My Nintendo Gold Points program will be significantly reduced in the coming months.
Nintendo Is Phasing Out Gold Points – Only Available Until March 2025
Starting March 25, 2025, Gold Points will no longer be awarded for digital purchases. If you still want to collect or spend points, now is the time to act.
The reward program allowed players to earn Gold Points when purchasing digital Nintendo Switch games or DLC. These points could then be used in the Nintendo eShop or My Nintendo Store for discounts or rewards. However, as of March 2025, that will be a thing of the past – at least when it comes to earning new points.
Already have Gold Points? Don’t worry! They will remain valid for 12 months. So if you’re planning a big purchase – even if it’s just another remaster of a game you’ve already bought three times – you can still use your points until March 2026.
Are There Any Exceptions?
Fortunately, Nintendo has clarified that there are still a few exceptions where Gold Points can be earned even after the cutoff date:
- Pre-orders: If you pre-order a digital game or DLC before the deadline, you will still receive Gold Points.
- Physical games: Titles released before the cutoff date will still grant Gold Points if registered.
- Specific console purchases: Buying a Nintendo Switch (OLED model) in White or Customized, a personalized Nintendo Switch, or a Nintendo Switch Lite in Yellow, Turquoise, Gray, Coral, or Blue from the My Nintendo Store before the deadline will still grant Gold Points after the product has shipped.
So, if you want to make the most of your points, there’s still a bit of time. Given Nintendo’s history of quietly axing reward programs with surgical precision, it’s uncertain whether there will be a replacement for Gold Points in the future.
