The Russian development studio GFA Games is opening beta registration for its MMO shooter Pioner. But how do the worlds of Escape from Tarkov and Stalker combine, and can the result really keep up with the competition?
The MMO first-person extraction shooter Pioner is set in a dark, dystopian world that is heavily inspired by the games Stalker and Escape from Tarkov. Essentially, you explore a massive open world on the hunt for loot, while keeping an eye out for other players and NPC opponents.
Most excitingly of all, you can register for the beta now!
Beta registration now open for Pioner
While a release date has not yet been confirmed, it is now possible for anyone interested to register for the open beta of Pioner. You can register for the test phase on Steam or on the developer's website.
Those who are selected will receive an email with further information.
Everything we know about Pioner
But should you register for Pioner? Absolutely. And here's why
The story of Pioner takes place in a Soviet-inspired, post-apocalyptic setting that has been devastated by a mysterious event. Players roam an open world full of deadly anomalies, mutants and hostile factions.
You take on the role of a survivor who, either completely solo or in cooperation with clan members (more on that later), tries to discover the origins of this dystopian world. To do so, you must complete missions, solve puzzles and uncover secrets.
So far, so Tarkov. But where Pioner stands out and really excites us with its Clans feature...
Pioner's twist on the extraction-shooter formula: Clans
Pioner sets itself apart from other extraction shooters with the introduction of Clans. Clans are like gangs you can join with other players, and together as you can go on missions and work together. Perfect for staving off that post-apocalyptic loneliness!
