When is the next State of Play? Could be sooner than you think!

Sony’s State of Play is a digital event series where PlayStation shares updates on upcoming games, reveals new titles, and provides deep dives into gameplay. It’s similar to Nintendo Direct or Xbox’s Developer Direct, focusing on PlayStation-exclusive and third-party games. And the next one with the latest updates? Might be closer than you think – according to the latest rumors, that is.
Leaker NateTheHate teases a State of Play coming in Valentine's Day's week – given his track record, he might be onto something. He predicted the announcement of the Switch 2 correctly, but take it with a grain of salt – after all the leaks about Nintendo's newest endeavour, you didn't have to be an industry insider to guess Nintendo would have to make a move. Let's say Nate is correct, though: What could Sony's next State of Play look like?
Highly Anticipated Games For Sony's State Of Play
Sony can pick and choose, really, when it comes to games the community is waiting for. We might get some updates on Assassin's Creed: Shadows that's scheduled to release in March to hype up Ubisoft fans even more.
2025 has more in store than just tried-and-true franchises: Ghost of Yōtei might not be a direct sequel to Sekiro, but thematically pretty similar from what we've seen so far – news about that one would be highly appreciated, Sony! High on the list of the most anticipated releases is Death Stranding 2: On the Beach and we're still waiting for an official release date there – State of Play might shed some light on that.

And that's not even everything: how about Marvel's Wolverine? Insomniac has teased their excitement about the upcoming game, and we'd happily take some updates there. As a big fan of Naughty Dog, I'd be happy about some news about Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet and watch the internet burn again, too – chances might not be too good there, though, as we've got the announcement trailer merely a few months back at The Game Awards. Naughty Dog is infamous for taking their sweet time with their games, but hope dies last!
As always, there's room for Wildcards as well and it wouldn't be the first time we've got some surprise announcements. What's it going to be? The Last of Us Part 3, just in time for the new season of the TV adaptation in April? The possibilities are endless, and anticipation is high.
If Sony's State of Play really is just around the corner remains to be seen, though – Sony hasn't confirmed nor denied anything at this point. As always, we'll keep you updated on that front!
