Have you ever had the desire to play a horror game that feels like a fever dream? Well, we have the perfect game for you!

Sorry We're Closed

Sorry We're Closed is a single-player survival horror game released in November 2024. It was developed by À La Mode Games and published by Akupara Games. It's available for PCs with Windows 10 or newer, Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. On PC, it has full controller support for Xbox and PlayStation controllers.

The full version costs $24,99 or 24,50€ but there's a free demo available if you wanna try it out before making the decision to buy it.

Innovation Meets Nostalgia

Sorry We’re Closed reimagines classic survival horror with a mix of fixed-camera exploration and arcade-style first-person shooting. Optional tank controls bring an old-school touch for purists who crave that nostalgic horror feel.

But it's not all nostalgia, the game also has some innovative and creative features: Your main character, Michelle, has a "Third Eye" – a special power (or rather curse) that allows her to see supernatural things no one else can perceive. Master this gift to uncover secrets, solve puzzles, and expose enemy weak points in battle.

With Michelle's superpower, this game traps you between the real world and a demonic nightmare. And Michelle’s journey isn’t just about fighting monsters, it’s about battling fate itself. Her London neighborhood is filled with eccentric residents, each with their own struggles. You can guide their choices through RPG-style dialogue.

Be careful, though, because the more contact you have with the supernatural, the more you change about both of the worlds Michelle has access to. There are multiple endings and the destinies of your neighbours as well as Michelle's own fate depend on your decisions.

A Look At The Game

Sorry We're Closed Reviews

Thanks to its 98% positive reviews, Steam calls this game's ratings "Overwhelmingly Positive". Let's look at some comments:

I finally understand the Plight of the average Lesbian. An homage to Resident Evil (dead aim) and old horror titles in all the good ways. It takes some existing ideas and adds to them with the combat with some new ideas. - Rowbut on Steam
most enjoyable survival horror i've played since signalis. lovable cast of characters, wonderful atmosphere/world building and a pretty intriguing story about angels, demons and everything in between. - Athena on Steam
The fact that this was done by essentially two people is wild to me. All the art (including 3D models) are done by C Bedford and are stunning, the story is fantastic; the whole thing drips queer style and horror. - kiehlhyre on Steam

Sounds like an enjoyable horrific fever dream! Have you heard about this game? Do you know other horror games with a really unconventional style? Let us know in the comments!
