Will the movie have a split screen, too?

Split Fiction director Josef Fares wants to make another movie - here's everything we know so far:
Hazelight Studios
Hazelight Studios is a game development studio founded by Josef Fares in 2014. They have released three games so far: A Way Out (2018), It Takes Two (2021) and Split Fiction (2025). So far, all of their titles have been co-op games for two players who would play on a split screen, always aware of what their partner is doing.
From two prisoners who want to break free, to a married couple that's suddenly turned into toys, to two authors who accidentally get stuck in their own stories - Hazelight Studios has always impressed players with great worldbuilding, entertaining and suspenseful writing and some of the most multifaceted gameplay features you've ever seen.
And it's exactly these qualities that might work to Fares' advantage if he truly wants to make another movie.
Fares As A Movie Director
Why "another"? If you didn't know, Josef Fares was already a movie director before making video games - his movies just aren't internationally well-known, which might change with his current success. Here are the movies he's directed so far:
- 2000: Jalla! Jalla!
- 2003: Kopps
- 2005: Zozo
- 2007: Leo
- 2010: Balls
So what movie does he want to make now? No, it's not the film adaption of It Takes Two that was announced in 2022 - Pat Casey and Josh Miller will lead this project, not Josef Fares. However, in an interview on Dexerto's YouTube channel Fall Damage, Fares stated that he would like to make another movie and even has a story already:
"I do, however, have a plan to make an action comedy. I have like a story written down, like just a synopsis. If I have the time, if it doesn’t clash with my game development, because again, games is number one, then I will do a movie" - Josef Fares
We'll see if this idea ever becomes reality - Fares' great writing definitely makes it sound promising! But whether he'll stick to video games or direct another movie after all, we're sure that we'll get more great content from him in the future.
Do you know any of Fares' previous movies? Would you like him to make another one? Tell us your opinion in the comments!
