Nintendo devs have reportedly now confirmed that the Nintendo Switch's successor won't be released until at least April 2025.
The Switch was a successful console, even for Nintendo. Fans loved that it was handheld, and that it had a lot of great exclusives, which weren't available on other platforms.
While Microsoft and Sony were forced to fight between themselves for customers, Nintendo conquered a niche. So, of course, this beloved console will get a successor, but sadly not until at least mid-2025.
Nintendo Developers Apparently Confirm Release Window
On the most recent GI Podcast, journalist Christopher Dring claimed that he had spoken to developers at Nintendo, and apparently they don't expect the new console to released before April 2025:
No developer I have spoken to expects it to launch in this financial year. In fact, they've been told not to expect it in this financial year. A bunch of people I spoke to hope it's out in April/May.
Sadly, then, the wait for a Switch 2 might be longer than expected.
Back in May 2024, Shuntaro Furukawa, the President of Nintendo, announced on X/Twitter that the Switch 2 was going to be revealed during the current fiscal year for Nintendo. So at least we can probably expect a reveal before April 2025, even if not a release.
