Nintendo is releasing their very own alarm clock, called Alarmo. But this isn't just another piece of plastic merch, it's packed with a surprising amount of features to gamify waking up.
Nintendo is well-known for unique ideas and wacky products, many of which have become huge successes. But their latest escapade, a smart alarm clock, might just be our favorite yet...
Wake up to Super Mario with Alarmo
In a recent announcement, Nintendo introduced Alarmo to the world, their very first alarm clock. But don't be fooled, there's a lot more to Alarmo than its charming design (which would fit perfectly in the Mushroom Kingdoms castle), it's packed with features only Shigeru Miyamoto and his staff could think of.
Select a title, pick a scene, set a time, and let Alarmo handle the rest. In the morning you’ll experience immersive sounds and music from the scene you picked, followed by a game element arriving to help wake you up!
As explained in the product description for Alarmo, it brings the ambience of your favorite Nintendo games to your morning routine. You can choose between Super Mario Odyssey, BotW, Splatoon 3, Pikmin 4 and Ring Fit Adventure.
It starts with quiet, peaceful music and gets more intense the longer it goes on. So if the gentle sound of Mario's hat floating through the air isn't enough to wake you up, the mighty roar of Bowser should be!
Alarmo is also hands-free, with sensors that scan the movement of your body, so you can snooze the alarm with a gesture or end it completely by getting out of bed.
The sensors also track your movement during the night, and will show you how well, or poorly, you slept. So if you've ever wanted to get a high score for napping – your time has finally come!
And Nintendo has promised that more features will be added to Alarmo, as well as new downloadable scenes like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
Right now, only members of the Nintendo Switch Online service in the U.S. and Canada can purchase Alarmo, for $99.99, but if the product is popular, we might see it being rolled out to other regions.
Would you buy an Alarmo for $100?
