The devs of Warframe: 1999 decided to not fix a bug that appeared after players were allowed to spawn a modified motorcycle.
After the newest Warframe update including motorcycles, players found some bugs with the spawn of these vehicles, but the devs don’t want to fix them – because they think they’re cool.
Warframe: 1999
After the free expansion 1999 for Warframe launched last week, the free-to-play sci-fi game featuring magic space ninjas and mutant horrors, players not only were sent back in time to an alternate version of said year, but also new characters, weapons and motorcycles as well. The motorcycles became an immediate fan favorite – not only for intended reasons, though.
Shortly after finishing the primary story quest for 1999, players realized that the Aomicycle – a Y2K-era sports motorcycle modified to bullet jump and aim glide – was able to do more than they have been told before. Developer Digital Extremes told players even before the release of Warframe: 1999 that they will be able to summon the Atomicycle in the expansion’s Höllvania tileset as well, once they’re done with 1999’s quest.
Soon after the launch, players found out that they could summon the bike everywhere else as well.
Take this, Professor Oak!
A bug allowed players to let the motorcycle spawn in any mission tileset, including the missions taking place in spaceships and orbital installments with narrow corridors. That way, the already fast-paced game that combines parkour-like movements with gravity-defying paths got even faster thanks to heavily armed bikes roaming through it.
Normally, when a bug like this occurs in a game, the devs will do their best to patch the problem as fast as possible, making sure players get to play the game as intended – but the motorcycles spawning all over the place found a fan in Digital Extreme, who wants to keep the bug.
Via the Wareframe forum, Digital Extreme made an announcement explaining the situation and their decision:
As lots of you have reported, the Atomicycle can be spawned and used in ALL missions, not just 1999 and Open Zones like we originally intended. After some internal discussion, we’ve decided to not change this. It’s rad and cool and we enjoy seeing you whip out the bike throughout the Origin System!
However, Digital Extreme also stated that the feature-turned-bug won’t work for the already-existing Archwing vehicles, since it's hard to maneuver motorcycles in the vacuum of space without gravity.
What do you think about Digital Extremes reaction? What are your favorite bugs in games that are quite useful in the end?
