A new mod for CoD MW Remastered that brought back MW2 multiplayer was making waves on Steam... then Activision shut it down.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is beloved by most fans, and it only keeps on giving. A new mod was set to be released that aimed to recreate the magic of Modern Warfare 2's multiplayer, complete with all original features.
Then Activision shut it down.
Update, August 16: Activision Shut Down Mod
It's a real shame, but it looks like Activision wasn't all that excited about the mod and decided to go in a different direction. The mod team posted a statement on X and said that they are shutting down all operations immediately and permanently due to a Cease & Desist order on behalf of Activision Publishing:
Who knows, maybe this will have a positive impact on the sales of Black Ops 6.Today, our team members received a Cease & Desist order on behalf of Activision Publishing in relation to the H2M-Mod project. We are complying with this order and shutting down all operations immediately and permanently.

MW2 Multiplayer Mod Looked Fantastic
Everyone agrees that the footage of this mod looked incredible. In fact, the gameplay looked so polished that many people were saying that it looked even better than the official release by Activision.
The H2M-Mod (short for H2-Multiplayer-Mod) was set to feature all the original MW2 multiplayer-maps and all of its weapons.
Fans were going crazy over this post on X made by the mod's developers:

And hype for the mod reached Steam, where CoD: MW Remastered (the game that H2M is launched from) became the second best-selling game for a brief period.
But now the dream has sadly been crushed.
