An ex-employee of the live streaming platform Kick speaks out and reveals what goes on behind the scenes at the Twitch competitor. One alleged offer to streamer Kyedae is particularly shocking.
The live-streaming platform Kick has managed to bring several big streamers on board and is competing with Twitch. More and more streamers are being recruited by Kick and enticed with lucrative offers to switch sides. However, it seems that not everything behind the scenes is as rosy.
Accusations Against Kick: Kyedae Received An Unethical Offer
Former Kick employee "ItsMelissaDude" recently spoke out in a YouTube video, in which she revealed some unpleasant truths about Kick. She explained that she left the company due to an extremely unfair work environment and discriminatory behavior towards employees and streamers.
Melissa provided emails proving that her request for flexible working conditions was revoked, forcing her to choose between her job and caring for her daughter.
She describes shocking incidents, including the use of derogatory terms in the office, such as the N-word, and disrespectful behavior towards an autistic streamer. She was particularly outraged by the offer made to streamer Kyedae, who has been battling cancer for some time. The offer apparently aimed to exploit her illness to hire her at a low price.
In the video, she quoted an unknown person from Kick with the following statement:
"We can get her on Kick streaming stake for a relatively low price because she probably thinks she's going to die soon and she'll want to leave more money for her family"
The mere fact that such a statement was made is an absolute no-go. But was this plan put into action? According to Kyedae, she did indeed receive an offer from Kick, which she declined for moral reasons. Kyedae also believes that Kick is a dying platform, which recent events seem to support.
Kick now needs to respond to Melissa’s allegations. As soon as we have more information, we will keep you updated.
