Assassin’s Creed Shadows is releasing on November 15 for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series, as Ubisoft leaves last-gen consoles behind for the first time in eleven years.
The long-awaited Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Ubisoft’s first foray into Japan within the series, is releasing on November 15, 2024. Ubisoft has confirmed that the game will take a step forward and only launch on PS5, Xbox Series and PC, like GTA 6.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows Not Coming To PS4 Or Xbox One
AC Shadows will therefore not come out for last-gen consoles, namely the PS4 and Xbox One. Since Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag in 2013, every game in the series launched for those consoles. That streak will now be broken, and Ubisoft is set to leave a lot of people behind.
While the PS5 has been very successful, selling around 59 million units, the lack of availability at launch has strongly hampered the transition from the last generation of consoles to the new one. Recently, Sony president Hiroki Totoki revealed that half of all PlayStation users are still on PS4.
Quote from Sony president Hiroki Totoki from Tues. (via Sony translator):"Cumulative [PS5] sales is 59 million units or plus. Compared to MAU, still, about half of the people are playing on PS4. So, console generation overlap will be handled well and MAU will steadily increase"

A lot of players are still on these old consoles, and they won’t get to play Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Still, 59 million PS5s and roughly 30 million Xbox Series consoles is a really strong user base. The game will probably also do very well on PC.
Considering that the game is topping pre-order charts on Amazon, and that Ubisoft has raised the price of the base game from $69.99 to $79.99, the game will likely still be massively successful.
