2XKO playtest is right around the corner, but according to the latest update, two fan favorite characters won't be playable for the event.
Riot Games' fighting game 2XKO will launch in 2025. Until then, a playtest is all we have to work with for now, which is scheduled to be live from August 8 until August 19.
We hope to try out many different characters, but we already have some bad news. Jinx and Katarina won't be available in the playtest.
Why Are Jinx And Katarina Not Available
Shaun Rivera, the game director of 2XKO, had some things to say in a recent interview. He talks about Ahri, and how they made her easier to play, so fans can pick her up more easily.
About Jinx he stated:
She wasn't hitting as hard as we wanted. Specifically, she wasn't hitting as hard as soon-to-be Jinx Mains would expect her to.

Spideraxe, who works on the League of Legends wiki, and posts a lot of League stuff on Twitter, stated that Katarina won't be in the playtest, because Riot had to adjust her kit to the changes that 2XKO went through.
2XKO was changed into a Tag-Team Fighting Game during development.
Also they noted that Katarina was cut from the 2XKO launch roster because a lot of her kit was tied to the old mechanics of the game (before they revamped it to be a tag-team fighter). They want to do her justice when she finally comes out. pic.twitter.com/OpRsNxAZm5
