League of Legends & Teamfight Tactics in Esports World Cup

In that official blog, Riot Games said, “We know that seeing League and TFT included in an international esports event in Saudi Arabia could raise some questions. Our goal in this region, and all regions, is to make deliberate choices that result in a better experience for players around the world.”Talking about why Riot thinks of participating in EWC, they noted “after a lot of consideration about our duty to thoughtfully explore marketing and commercial opportunities for Esports teams and players”

Riot also said that the community is asking for more international events & this event is part of a broader strategy to allow more high-impact tournaments in the esports calendar. Events like Asian Games & Redbull League have their own significant moment for the teams, players, & fans.

Riot wants to make it Better in MENA for the Players

Riot Games confirmed that League of Legends will soon have Arabic localization and new servers will be launched in the Middle East in 2024.The article included a quote, “That’s why we have over 20 global offices, most focusing specifically on publishing efforts in their region. While we’ve had an office in Dubai since 2018 doing impactful publishing work, on the game side, we haven’t delivered the ideal player experience in MENA for League of Legends."

Riot acknowledged that not everyone may want to watch the EWC, but they respect that. However, this event can have a significant impact on MENA players and teams.
