During a recently held Clash of Clans October 2024 AMA, the General Manager announced plans for defense merging, TH17 changes, and other future upgrades.
Stuart McGaw, the General Manager of Clash of Clans, recently had a chat with players on Reddit in an AMA session, where he talked about future plans. He shared some cool updates that are coming to the game, like Town Hall 17, new defenses and upgrades, and some long-term plans.
Big Changes to Town Hall 17 in Clash of Clans
COC Town Hall 17 is getting a big makeover to make the game harder for experienced players.
One of the coolest things is how you can now combine defenses. Like, regular Cannons and Archer Towers can turn into stronger ones like Ricochet Cannons and Multi-Archer Towers. This means you’ll have to come up with new ideas to protect your base!
New Skins and Decorations
There are also gonna be more decorations to make your game map look cooler. And next month, a new war base scenery is coming out with a fresh design.
You’ll also see new pet skins and emotes. Even the pet L.A.S.S.I might get some upgrades to make it more useful in battles.
Changes to Heroes and Ranked Play
Stuart said they’re making changes to the Hero system. Now, you can use Heroes in battles even when they’re not upgrading, which gives you more options in fights. They’re also updating the Hero Equipment system, bringing back some old gear in special events.
For the ranked play, like in the Legends League, they want to make it more fun for everyone, whether you’re a serious player or just having fun. There’s also a plan to make the loot system better by next year.

Lower Town Halls and Training Updates
It’s not all about the higher levels. Even the lower Town Halls in Clash of Clans are getting some new stuff. And in early 2025, the training system is getting a big update. You’ll be able to save your armies with pets and equipment, so you can get ready for battles quicker.
Hard Mode and Game Security
They’re gonna expand Hard Mode to other game parts like Clan War Leagues and Legends League. This mode, which was introduced in the June update, could soon be seen in even more parts of the game.
For game security, Supercell’s working hard to keep everyone’s accounts safe. They’ve made Supercell ID better with alerts for email changes and an easier way to get your account back if needed.
Apart from the above stuff, some things players wanted, like Legendary Equipment, won’t be coming soon. And while Supercell might add new pets later, they’ll only do it if the pets fit well with the game’s balance.
Overall, the Clash of Clans October 2024 AMA showed that Supercell has a lot of cool stuff planned to make the game better for everyone, whether you’re new to it or a pro. There’s lots to look forward to, from defense upgrades and Hero changes to better account security.
