The PUBG Mobile 4.2 Beta continues the move toward a Nature and forest theme, with Erangel overtaken by giant roots, glowing plants, and a towering tree visible across the map. Pochinki and Yasnaya Polyana are once again fierce hot-drops, now wrapped in overgrown roots for old-school close-range fights with a fresh twist.

New Features in PUBG Mobile 4.2 Beta

Metro Royale: Glacix Arbiter and new loot

In Metro Royale, the headline addition is the Glacix Arbiter, a new Fabled melee weapon.

  • It has a chance to one-shot PvE enemies and bandits, making it extremely valuable in raids.
  • It is exclusive to Chapter 30 and drops from zombie-type monsters or map bosses.
  • Once obtained, it stays in your inventory between seasons and does not drop on elimination, so it behaves more like permanent high-tier gear.

Players can also hunt for Vine Crates, which spawn randomly around the map and can contain high-value items that sell for strong returns. On top of that, a new Fabled sellable item, the Military Drone, can appear in all crate types, alongside new collectibles to deepen Metro Royale’s economy.

World of Wonder: smarter AI tools for creators

The World of Wonder (WOW) mode gets a major creator-focused upgrade through an expanded AI Smart Assistant.

  • Creators can now auto-generate skeletal animations from uploaded videos, making it easier to build custom skills and visual sequences.
  • A new 3D grouped object generation feature lets you type text descriptions and turn them into map scenery.
  • Quality of life tools like floating windows, interface scaling, and per map edit history (stored for seven days) make building complex maps more manageable.

These changes push WOW further toward a full sandbox creation suite, where AI helps speed up animation and level design work.

New nature-themed systems: companion, vehicle, and powers

The PUBG Mobile 4.2 Beta also adds big gameplay features around the forest theme.

New AI companion – Groot-style plant ally

A new AI companion, nicknamed Groot, follows up on the popular Ninja Penguin Pownin from 4.1.

  • Players find Lumina Plant Seeds scattered on the map and can pick only one per match.
  • Planting the seed creates a plant that only bears fruit in your third match at that spot (for example, plant in match 1, harvest in match 3).
  • Blue fruits give solid loot and supplies, while a rare golden fruit unlocks the Groot companion itself.

This delayed reward system encourages long-term planning and revisiting key spots over multiple games.

New vehicle – Scorpion

The main themed vehicle is the Scorpion, the first insect-style vehicle in PUBG Mobile.

  • It has a top speed of around 40 km/h, but compensates with unique abilities.
  • Its Burrow feature lets you dig underground to traverse safely and avoid enemy fire.
  • The tail can shoot projectiles, adding offensive potential.
  • To summon the Scorpion, players must collect a Scorpion Horn item and use it to spawn the vehicle.

Because it combines mobility, protection, and attack options, the Scorpion is one of the most utility-heavy vehicles in recent updates.

New superpowers – Root Vision and Butterfly Fairy

Each match in 4.2 lets you equip one superpower, similar to ghost powers in version 4.0. So far, two powers are available:

  • Root Vision: Transforms your perspective into a “root” that travels to another location without moving your character, like a hologram scout. It helps you spot hidden enemies and loot, but has a cooldown, so timing matters.
  • Butterfly Fairy: Gives your character a wing on the back, letting you fly, dash, and attack from the air. It is especially strong for repositioning, climbing buildings, and taking high ground quickly.

These powers significantly change how fights play out, adding more mobility and scouting tools.

New weapon and combat tweaks

A standout weapon in this theme is the Overgrown Honey Badger.

  • It’s visually covered in plant roots and deals increased damage compared to the standard version.
  • When its power bar fills, it can fire a special energy blast that causes area damage, turning gunfights in tight spaces into big risk zones for enemy squads.

On the broader balance side, the 4.2 Beta also adjusts classic guns:

  • AKM, M762, ACE32, Honey Badger, and Mk47 get +2 damage, while Groza gains +1 damage, rewarding skilled mid-range spraying.
  • Shotguns like S686, S1897, NS2000, S12K, DBS, and M1014 have slightly reduced base damage and more random pellet spread, toning down early one-shot power.

Classic mode and immersion improvements

Classic Erangel movement feels better thanks to smoother window climbing, and a new Co op Ledge Grab lets you step on a teammate’s palm to reach higher ledges, then pull them up. This adds a teamwork-based vertical movement layer that could matter in both ranked play and esports.

The 4.2 Beta also upgrades visual and sound effects to fit the nature theme: root movement, bird and insect sounds, and transformation effects all boost immersion, though some audio is still incomplete in the beta and will be refined later.

Well, all of these changes are currently live only in the PUBG Mobile 4.2 Beta, so details may shift before the full release. Players can try them early via the test client and share feedback to influence the final patch.
