After more than two years in its Overwatch 2 era, Blizzard’s flagship title continues to innovate with frequent seasonal updates. While details on the upcoming Season 15 remain somewhat limited, early hints have surfaced, from new cosmetics to teasers about a fresh map. Here’s everything we know so far.

A New Map Teased for Competitive Play

Unlike Season 14, which introduced the Tank hero Hazard, Season 15 won’t bring a new character to the roster. Instead, Blizzard appears to be focusing on freshening up gameplay with the arrival of a new map.

While official confirmation is still pending, players have uncovered several subtle teasers suggesting what the map might entail. Among the most compelling clues is a new voiceline exchange between Lifeweaver and Orisa. In the interaction, Lifeweaver asks Orisa if she has been to “the arcology,” to which Orisa replies that her creator, Efi, had once spoken at a conference held there.

This isn’t the only hint pointing to the mysterious Atlantic Arcology. Within the Midtown map, Hyper-rail trains reference the underwater locale, suggesting a possible setting for the new map. Should this be true, it could mark the debut of the first officially designed underwater map in Overwatch 2. While Blizzard briefly showcased Talantis, a community-designed underwater map, this would be the first one designed directly by Blizzard to enter competitive rotation.

The transition to Season 15 will officially take place on February 18, 2025, coinciding with the end of Season 14. True to Blizzard’s consistent seasonal update schedule, the patch is expected to go live at:

  • 10:00 AM PST
  • 1:00 PM EST
  • 6:00 PM GMT
  • 7:00 PM CET

Players can look forward to diving into new content immediately as the servers roll over.

Lunar New Year Event and Skins

Season 15 also coincides with Overwatch 2’s much-anticipated return to the Chinese market, following years of absence due to publisher disputes. Now that Blizzard and NetEase have reached an agreement, Chinese players can once again access the game - and Blizzard is planning a range of exclusive rewards to celebrate the occasion.

Game Director Aaron Keller recently teased on Chinese social media platform Rednote, that special Lunar New Year skins and events are in the works, specifically tailored for Chinese audiences. In addition to unlocking new Mythic-tier skins, players in the region will gain access to older exclusive cosmetics that were previously tied to past Battle Passes.

For the global Overwatch community, the Lunar New Year event promises a host of new cosmetics as well. While specific heroes for the skin lineup haven’t been confirmed, it’s safe to expect vibrant, festive designs that align with the celebration.

What Else Can Players Expect?

Beyond the confirmed details, Blizzard is likely to deliver more surprises in Season 15. Balance changes, potential tweaks to existing heroes, and new quality-of-life updates are expected as part of the seasonal patch. Fans should also keep an eye out for additional teasers as the launch date approaches.

Many players also wish to get 6v6 back as the main format of the game's competitive scene.

As Overwatch 2 enters its 15th season, excitement is building for what lies ahead. Between the possible Atlantic Arcology map, exclusive Lunar New Year skins, and Blizzard’s renewed presence in the Chinese market, there’s plenty to look forward to. With February 18 just a few weeks away, players won’t have to wait long to dive into everything the new season has to offer.
