Toei Animation have announced a six-month One Piece break to prepare for the continuation of the Egghead Arc, but in the meanwhile they will be releasing an enhanced version of an older, classic story line.
Toei Animation just announced a six-month-long hiatus for One Piece, but they'll be "making up" for it by revisiting an old story arc.
An opportunity to make One Piece even more powerful
Ryuta Koike the chief producer explained during a live stream event that the anime will be going into a "charging period" so the team behind it can get ready for the next phase of the Egghead Arc. The hiatus began with the airing of Episode 1122 and will not end before April 2025.
With Eiichiro Oda's original manga getting more exciting with each new chapter, the anime team would "like to take this opportunity to make the anime even more powerful", noting the cinematic presentation of big events like Shank's attack on Captain Kid.
But this doesn’t mean that everyone's favorite pirates will set anchor for six months, as Toei will release an enhanced version of an old beloved adventure each week during the hiatus, the Fish-Man Island Saga.
The edited version of the original Fish-Man Island saga will include 21 episodes with updated visuals, as well as an updated opening and ending theme.
Fans can also look forward to the special 25th Anniversary episode, premiering on October 20. The 30-minute special will honor the One Piece legacy, depicting the reunion of Luffy and his friends after the Summit War in the Sabaody Archipelago from the perspective of some non-pirate characters.
