Shogun is one of the biggest TV and streaming events of the year, with new episodes releasing every week until the finale in late April. We got the complete Shogun release schedule here and will show you, when episode 5 of the series is coming out.
Ever since Game of Thrones ended with a dumpster fire of a last season, it felt like nothing in TV or streaming was able to fill the void that this show left. People were yearning for an epic nail-biter of a prestige show, that would keep the viewer at the edge of their seat. And it looks like Shogun is filling that void.
Shogun is a historical drama based on the 1975 novel of the same name by James Clavell, which has previously been adapted into a 1980 limited series. The story is set in Japan in the year 1600, at the dawn of a century-defining civil war. It follows the arrival of English sailor John Blackthorne in Japan, as he is found on board of a mysterious European ship. Lord Yoshii Toranaga, one of the main characters in the story, discovers secrets aboard the ship that could potentially tip the scales of power in a struggle over who will rule the country.
So yes, the Game of Thrones comparisons are pretty apt.
Shogun: Complete Release Schedule With Times And Dates
For the start of the show, we were treated with two episodes at once, which was just absolutely delicious. But now, fans have to wait for new episodes and the suspense is absolutely unbearable. If you have immediately burned through the third episode, you'll have to wait for a bit, as Shogun episode 5 releases on March 19.
Thankfully, the full release schedule for Shogun is already known, as we will get a new episode every Tuesday until the end of the season. Each episode is set to air on FX at 7 PM PST/10 PM EST/3 AM GMT.
Good news for those who watch Shogun over streaming: The episodes seem to appear on streaming platforms before they air on TV. However, it’s not clear at what exact time they become available.
Unfortunately, getting two episodes at once seems to have been reserved for the premiere. But at least it looks like the show will not skip a week until the release of the last episode. Here is the complete release schedule for all episodes:
Episode 1 | February 27, 2024 |
Episode 2 | February 27, 2024 |
Episode 3 | March 5, 2024 |
Episode 4 | March 12, 2024 |
Episode 5 | March 19, 2024 |
Episode 6 | March 26, 2024 |
Episode 7 | April 2, 2024 |
Episode 8 | April 9, 2024 |

If you want to get ahead of the show or just get more out of the amazing story, I strongly recommend you get the Shogun book that the show is based on (which is currently on offer). If you prefer listening to audiobooks, you can get Shogun for free via Audible .
New episodes of Shogun release every Tuesday and can be seen on Hulu and FX in North America and on Disney+ in other territories.
