GenG Lakia talks about VCT Masters & what went wrong in the Finals
GenG Lakia, a finalist of the VCT Masters Madrid, shares his experience of participating in the VCT for the first time.
How does it feel to have been part of your first-ever VCT tournament with GenG?
“I thought our team was doing well and I had high expectations, but I’m happy that we did well even though we didn’t win”- Lakia
What was the most memorable moment for you during the World Championship final match?
“Among the many rounds I made a mistake, the Split 10:11 round was the most memorable I wish I had won that round. That’s too bad.”- Lakia
What do you think were the key factors that led to GenG's loss in the final?
“I think we lost because of our communication problem and many mistakes” - Lakia
How do you plan to bounce back and improve for future tournaments after this experience?
“I think our team understands the game well, and I think we should continue to work hard and reduce our mistakes” - Lakia
Can you share any insights into the team's preparation and strategy leading up to the final?
“Rather than analyzing the opponent team, I tried to read the opponent’s movements within the game We only focused on what we were good at.” - Lakia
How do you personally reflect on your performance in the final match and throughout the tournament?
“I think there were a lot of things that I was sad about and I think there were a lot of things that needed to be fixed.” - Lakia
As a newcomer to the World Cup stage, what were the biggest challenges you faced?
“I think it was more exciting and fun than worrying.” - Lakia
How does it feel to have competed against some of the top players in the world in your first tournament?
“I know they’re good players, but I didn’t try to think hard and I tried to do what we were good at.” - Lakia
What lessons do you think GenG as a team can take away from this experience moving forward?
“Our team thinks we’re good, so we don’t have to collapse on our own.” - Lakia
And lastly, we asked Lakia, What are your aspirations and goals for future VCT tournaments with GenG?
The 23-year-old replied with confidence “WIN Champions.”
