For specific games, it is possible to connect your Steam and PSN accounts. Here's how to connect your Steam and PlayStation Network accounts and why you should do it.
Sony is bringing more and more games to PC and that's why Steam has recently started offering a neat new feature: you can now connect your Steam and PSN accounts. This feature was introduced with Spider-Man Remastered on PC, but is also available for other games like Helldivers 2 and more. The whole process is pretty easy and will usually even earn you some in-game rewards.
In this article, we will show you which games support the new feature and why you should use it.
Steam & PSN: How To Connect Your Accounts
The process is pretty straight forward. First you need a Steam account as well as a PlayStation Network account. Duh. Then, you have two options to connect your Steam account with your PSN account:
- Make sure the eligible game (find a list of all supported games below) is up-to-date on Steam and start it on your PC. You should now be asked to input your PSN credentials. If you don't see anything pop up, check the options menu and you should find this feature there.
- You can log into PSN on your PC, download and start an eligible game and then input your PSN login data.
According to the FAQ by Sony which you can find above, you should only need to do this procedure once for your Steam and PSN accounts to be connected. Here's a list of every game that you can connect your Steam and PSN accounts with as of now:
- Helldivers 2
- God of War
- Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered
- Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales
- The Last of Us Part I
- UNCHARTED™: Legacy of Thieves Collection
- Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
- Destiny 2 Lightfall
- Returnal
- Sackboy: A Big Adventure
- Days Gone
- Horizon Zero Dawn
- Helldivers
- Predator: Hunting Grounds
In addition, these games will follow
- Horizon Forbidden West™ Complete Edition
What You Get For Connecting Your Steam and PlayStation Network Accounts
If you connect your Steam and your PSN accounts, you will get in-game rewards for supported titles. In the case of Spider-Man Remastered, this means a suit, a gadget and some skill points. It's important to emphasize, that these aren't exclusive rewards and they can be unlocked in the game. There also isn't a full list of all unlocks for all games. Sony promises "unique bonus content", but so far it is not clear what exactly that entails.
For some games like Helldivers 2, whole gameplay mechanics are tied to the feature. In Helldivers 2 for example, you have to connect your accounts if you want to enable crossplay with the respective other platform.
You will also get to "manage your communication preferences, and receive the latest news, updates, and offers about your game and other upcoming PlayStation Studios games on PC or other PlayStation platforms". So you basically sign up for a newsletter. But it is still a pretty neat reward for doing very little at all, so we recommend connecting your Steam and your PSN accounts. They're better together.
