What happened on Day 1 of PMWC 2026 Finals?
According to reports from the venue, several players started feeling unwell during the first day of the PMWC 2026 Finals. The symptoms described include severe vomiting and stomach issues, with some players needing medical help right at the arena.
Among the names mentioned are GodLike Esports captain Manya, IDA Esports’ Emre7, and Tianba’s Milu. From the Indian side, Orangutan players Aaru and AKOP were also reported to be not feeling well. Indian creators Zgod and AnkiBot, who are in Paris, talked about the situation online, with AnkiBot saying some players had been sick since Match 1 but kept playing anyway.
The most worrying account came from the S2G side. One of their creators shared that player Lost was reportedly vomiting while playing, and that several other players required medical attention. The same source claimed that around 20 of the 64 competing players were in the medical area at one point, with some even being taken to medics on chairs.

Food poisoning suspected, but not officially confirmed
A lot of the discussion around the incident points to suspected food poisoning. One account from the S2G camp even raised questions about chicken consumed the previous day. However, at the time of writing, there is no official confirmation that chicken, or any specific food item, caused the illness.
Till the tournament organizers or medical officials share more information, the food poisoning angle should be treated as a possible explanation, not a confirmed fact. The main focus right now is on the recovery and safety of the affected players.
PMWC 2026 Finals schedule changes after Day 1
Because of the health situation, the schedule for the PMWC 2026 Finals had to be adjusted. Day 1 was planned for six matches, but action stopped after the fourth game. That means Matches 5 and 6 were not played on Day 1.
As a result, eight matches are now expected to be played on August 15, making Day 2 much longer than originally planned. With so many games packed into one day, the condition of the players who fell sick will be a big factor in how the rest of the tournament goes.

Even with everything happening outside the game, four Grand Finals matches did get finished.

- Match 2: S2G Esports took a 19-point Chicken Dinner after a tense endgame involving Team Flash and Horaa Esports.
- Match 3: eArena won with another 19-point performance.
- Match 4: ULF Esports closed the shortened day by winning the Match 4 WWCD with 20 points.
These results set the early tone, but with two matches postponed, the standings can still shift a lot on Day 2.
