Eastern European powerhouse Team Spirit won the Dota 2 Esports World Cup 2025 after a commanding performance at the Riyadh event on July 20. The team’s dominant run saw them lose only one game throughout the tournament and close the grand finals with a flawless 3-0 victory over Team Falcons, claiming the $1 million top prize from the $3 million total pool.

Team Spirit's Road to Victory

Team Spirit topped Group A with a 5-1 record, securing wins over Talon Esports and Natus Vincere (NAVI), and drawing with Xtreme Gaming. Their performance earned them a direct spot in the single-elimination playoffs. In the playoffs, Spirit defeated Gaimin Gladiators convincingly in the quarterfinals and swept PARIVISION in the semifinals to reach the grand finals.

In contrast, Team Falcons struggled in the group stage, finishing with a 2-4 record. They had to fight through the elimination phase, sweeping Virtus.pro and NAVI to earn a playoff spot. Falcons then defeated defending TI champions Team Liquid and overcame Tundra Esports to secure their place in the grand final.

The Grand Final: Spirit’s Dominance on Display

The grand finals showed why Team Spirit winning the Dota 2 Esports World Cup 2025 was expected by many. Their first game featured a mid-game-focused draft with Illya “Yatoro” Mulyarchuk on Templar Assassin, Denis “Larl” Sigitov on Queen of Pain, and Magomed “Collapse” Khalilov on Lycan. Spirit’s teamfighting prowess allowed them to crush Falcons after a slow start, with Yatoro leading the scoreboard.

In game two, Spirit played a slower, more methodical game. Yatoro switched to Medusa, supported by Larl on Storm Spirit and Collapse on Mars. Falcons again tried to split the map, but Spirit’s superior team coordination secured a 2-0 series lead.

The final game saw Spirit draft a powerful lineup with Yatoro on Shadow Fiend, Larl on Monkey King, and Collapse on Dawnbreaker. From early on, Spirit dominated the map and teamfights, forcing Falcons to concede after 33 minutes. Yatoro’s incredible 14 kills and 23 assists highlighted Spirit’s relentless pressure.

With this victory, Team Spirit win the Dota 2 Esports World Cup 2025 for the second time in a major tournament outside The International (TI). Their previous 2023 Riyadh Masters win and subsequent TI win had already cemented their reputation. Now, this latest title makes them one of the favourites heading into TI 2025 in September.

Team Spirit’s consistent high-level play and ability to adapt through different drafts make them a formidable force in the Dota 2 scene. Their dominant performance at EWC 2025 confirms their status at the top of competitive Dota 2.

Final Prize Distribution

  • Team Spirit took home $1,000,000 as champions.
  • Team Falcons earned $500,000 for their second-place finish.
  • PARIVISION claimed third place and $300,000.

As the Dota 2 Esports World Cup 2025 wraps up, fans can look forward to the upcoming TI 2025, where Team Spirit will aim to add a third Aegis of Champions to their trophy cabinet.
