Eastern European powerhouse Team Spirit won the Dota 2 Esports World Cup 2025 after a commanding performance at the Riyadh event on July 20. The team’s dominant run saw them lose only one game throughout the tournament and close the grand finals with a flawless 3-0 victory over Team Falcons, claiming the $1 million top prize from the $3 million total pool.
Team Spirit's Road to Victory
Team Spirit topped Group A with a 5-1 record, securing wins over Talon Esports and Natus Vincere (NAVI), and drawing with Xtreme Gaming. Their performance earned them a direct spot in the single-elimination playoffs. In the playoffs, Spirit defeated Gaimin Gladiators convincingly in the quarterfinals and swept PARIVISION in the semifinals to reach the grand finals.
In contrast, Team Falcons struggled in the group stage, finishing with a 2-4 record. They had to fight through the elimination phase, sweeping Virtus.pro and NAVI to earn a playoff spot. Falcons then defeated defending TI champions Team Liquid and overcame Tundra Esports to secure their place in the grand final.

The Grand Final: Spirit’s Dominance on Display

With this victory, Team Spirit win the Dota 2 Esports World Cup 2025 for the second time in a major tournament outside The International (TI). Their previous 2023 Riyadh Masters win and subsequent TI win had already cemented their reputation. Now, this latest title makes them one of the favourites heading into TI 2025 in September.
