Now with the new title of Star Resonance, Blue Protocol finds its way back to life in China after being picked up by Tencent subsidiary Shanghai Bokura.

New game Star Resonance looks like renewed Blue Protocol

After having been in development since 2015, Blue Protocol officially got a cancellation announcement by Bandai Namco this August.

It was first released in Japan, but quickly became a massive flop for the studio, which may or may not have connection to the involvement of Amazon Games in the production. Thus, it never saw any release in the West.

The game will be taken down in January 2025, and for the longest time, it seemed like there was no more hope for the MMORPG. Until fans were surprised by a new announcement.

The Chinese studio Shanghai Bokura Technology, a subsidiary of massive company Tencent, revealed their new upcoming game by the name of Star Resonance, and it looks an awful lot like Blue Protocol.

Star Resonance is going to be an MMORPG set to release for PC, Android, and iOS. It comes with character customization, online coop mode, and a lot of other features.

In a press release posted by Shanghai Bokura themselves, they stated that their studio had acquired the rights to the Blue Protocol project.

It was also announced that their team would be working closely together with the team that was originally behind Blue Protocol.

So, things are looking great in regards of Blue Protocol getting a proper reboot, even if under a new name.

Star Resonance has already opened pre-registrations in China and is about to go into another beta testing phase. To celebrate this, the very first trailer of the game was released.

But sadly, there has not been any news regarding any release in the West yet. But play testers have revealed that there already is an option to set the text language to English, that means that there is hope!

Are you excited for this news? If Star Resonance does release in the West, will you be playing it? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments.
