After the game was originally launched via Apple Arcade back in 2021, Mistwalker, a studio founded by Final Fantasy father Hironobu Sakaguchi, Fantasian is now re-released in cooperation with Square Enix for PC.

Now called Fantasian Neo Dimension, the game is a colorful interdimensional journey to gather back lost memories.

The game has you play Leo, who awakens without any memories in an unfamiliar land full of machines. After he realizes that a virus called “Mechteria” haunts the machines, he and his pals are on an adventure filled with turn-based fights to free the world from the virus.

While fighting, you can target multiple enemies, whether they are standing in a straight line, an arc or while hitting them with a large AoE blast. To save some time and increase the fun, you can also “collect” unfriendly encounters to fight them all in a single fight.

The game’s amazing aesthetic comes from a mix of handmade dioramas with CG, creating a breathtaking unique style that blurs the boundaries between digital graphics and real-life crafting.

The re-release also comes with new Japanese and English voiceovers, a new difficulty option, a way better (4K) resolution and the ability to switch between the original battle music and songs from across the FF franchise.

Have you played the game already? What do you think about the mix of real dioramas and CG characters?
