RIP Connect: Ubisoft to begin launching games on Steam again!

Ubisoft is in crisis right now, but they're going to do whatever it takes to save the company, including launching games on Steam again.

Of course, you've always been able to buy older Ubisoft games on Steam, but currently they like to release their new games on Ubisoft Connect first. Then, after a period of many months, they bring them over to the platform everyone uses. If you've never used Ubisoft Connect, you might not see why this is an issue, but rest assured it's a terrible launcher.

Of course, this is only a minor change, and it won't be enough in itself to save a company whose stock price recently plummeted to a ten-year-low, but it's certainly a start.

Ubisoft games to launch day one on Steam

In a recently-leaked memo from Ubisoft's CEO to staff, Yves Guillemot outlined plans to rebuild, including releasing games day one on Steam again:

Additionally, as a result of listening to player feedback on other topics, our new releases, starting with Assassin’s Creed Shadows, will again be available on Steam on launch day

Hooray!

Assassin's Creed Shadows was sadly delayed to February 14, 2025, but from that date onward we can expect all Ubisoft games to launch on Steam as well as Connect. Which is great news, and honestly, at least it shows Ubisoft are listening to their fans again.

Are you happy to finally wave goodbye to Ubisoft Connect? And more importantly, do you think Ubisoft can be saved?
