The first title of the zombie-slayer franchise, Dead Rising, is back – in a deluxe, remastered version.
The Dead Rising series has enjoyed a number of great titles and even a couple of movies, but now it is time for Capcom (and Frank West) to go back to the beginning – in a fully remastered version of the original.
Patient Zero
Originally released in 2006, Dead Rising was one of the biggest zombie titles back in the 2000s. Playing as photojournalist Frank West, players could hack and slay their way through a shopping mall overrun by zombies. The grotesque brutality and gore mixed with bizarre humors was well-received, and let to a number of successful sequels.
But now, the zombies of yesteryear have been reborn in Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, which includes better graphics and various quality-of-live improvements.
The new version also features more realistic facial expressions, material textures, and blood spatter, a complete voice-over to improve immersion, better UI, revamped controls and even an auto-saving feature.
The game released for PlayStation 5, the Xbox Series, and PC (via Steam) a few weeks back, but now they have also released a demo so you can try the game for free. But be aware, saves made in the demo do not transfer to the full game if you buy it.
Will you be trying out Dead Rising this weekend?
