Genshin Impact keeps expanding, and with Version 5.8, one of the most exciting summer updates thus far, is just around the corner.
Titled "Sunspray Summer Resort", the update will release on July 30, 2025, bringing not only a new permanent map but also the first playable character from Nod-Krai. Here’s everything you need to know.
A New Permanent Summer Location: Easybreeze Holiday Resort
The centerpiece of the update is the Easybreeze Holiday Resort, a new island region off the west coast of Natlan. Unlike previous summer event maps like the Golden Apple Archipelago, this one will be permanently available in the game – a wish many players have had for years!
The resort is divided into four zones, each with its own puzzles, secrets, and landscapes. You’ll be supported by the new mascot Asha, which grants you special abilities. With Asha’s powers, you’ll be able to glide over water, overcome obstacles, or uncover hidden puzzles, making exploration more varied and fun.
The First Character from Nod-Krai: Ineffa
With Version 5.8, Ineffa enters the stage – the first playable character from the mysterious region of Nod-Krai. Ineffa is a 5-star Electro character and is the first to introduce the new Lunar-Charged Reactions mechanic. This new elemental reaction is designed to bring fresh synergies to combat and shake up team-building strategies.
Ineffa will appear in Phase 1 of the event wishes, alongside a rerun of Citlali. Phase 2 will feature reruns for Mualani and Chasca, giving fans of older characters something to look forward to as well.
Existing heroes are also getting some love: Yelan will receive a stylish new outfit, available at a discounted price for a limited time. Bennett is also getting a brand-new outfit – but you can earn this one completely free by participating in the new summer events.
Story and Archon Quest
Naturally, the new version also delivers fresh story content for lore fans. In the Archon Quest “Song of the Welkin Moon: Prelude – The Journey Home”, we’ll learn more about Ineffa’s past and her role in the larger world of Teyvat. Popular characters like Bennett, Chasca, Mualani, and Venti will also return in a new Story Quest.
The summer mini-games are back – this time focused on collecting the new currency Sunspray Spirit. You’ll use this to unlock Bennett’s new outfit and plenty of other rewards, including the new 4-star claymore “Flame-Forged Insight.”
If you’re looking for a challenge, a new boss fight awaits in the Mare Jivari: there you’ll face Bakunawa, a powerful foe that will push your team to its limits.
Other Highlights and What Might Be Coming Next
While the main focus is on the resort, Ineffa, and the events, many fans are also hoping for early teasers about Nod-Krai itself. HoYoverse hasn’t revealed any concrete details about the region yet, but Ineffa and her story may offer the first clues.
In addition, some quality-of-life improvements are expected, including faster loading times for the new island, improved map filters, and expanded ways to play mini-games with friends.
With Version 5.8, HoYoverse finally fulfills the long-time wish for a permanent summer region and delivers an exciting new character, fresh story content, and plenty of rewards. It’s an update sure to excite both veterans and returning players alike.
