Rockstar have introduced a new zombie horde mode in GTA Online to celebrate Halloween. It's called Ludendorff Cemetery Survival, and it's insanely popular – even for a game as big as GTA.
Pretty much every major live service game will do something for Halloween. Call of Duty has The Haunting, Apex has Trick N' Treat Trios, and Fortnite has Fortnitemares. In previous years, GTA Online would also give players "four weeks of nonstop mischief" during October, but they never really nailed it.
This year, Rockstar decided to up their game. They created a zombie horde mode, reminiscent of the one in RDR Undead Nightmares from way back in 2010, and it's fantastic. Millions of players are returning to the game just to play this mode, and many have even signed a petition to have zombies expanded to the whole city for a week.
Ludendorff Cemetery Survival a certified hit, over 1.2 million concurrent players at peak
Players are loving GTA Online's new survival mode, in which you have to stand your ground against hordes of zombies in North Yankton (the location where the prologue is set). All you need to do is head to the Ludendorff Cemetery Survival blip on your map, and then you can enjoy fighting off "a nightmarish array of foes – including ambling corpses, colossal juggernauts, and possessed animals".
Survive three waves to receive the Gray Creepy Cat Mask and GTA$100,000 as part of the Weekly Challenge, and if you are a GTA+ Member, you will get the Mummy Outfit simply for playing. But even if there were no rewards, we would happily recommend the mode; it's great fun, and it fits the combat in GTA perfectly.
Fans are enamored, with player stats already through the roof and rising, and a petition to expand zombies to the whole city garnering thousands of upvotes on the game's subreddit. Given its success, we're quite confident that Rockstar will bring the mode back for future Halloweens, but for now you have just a month to enjoy Ludendorff Cemetery Survival. Good luck!
