After rumors that stuck around for the past two years, a new job listing made by Guerrilla Games might be the first real hint at an upcoming online-multiplayer title in the Horizon franchise.

Rumors for the last two years

Fans of the Horizon franchise are always on the hunt for news about the next game in the series and rumors about the arrival of a Horizon multiplayer game, are floating around for years. They probably won’t be satisfied by just playing the upcoming Lego Horizon game, so the claims of the next Guerilla Games project not to be Horizon 3 but a multiplayer project got quite the attention.

It has been at least two years since the first rumors and claims about Horizon Online came up, but so far neither Guerrilla Games nor any insider shared anything concrete.

In January 2024, alpha footage and concept art leaked, showing what could have been from a multiplayer-based Horizon game, but wasn’t that well received by fans. The artstyle the game seemed to go with was claimed to “look like Fortnite”.

In March, gaming journalist Jason Schreier suggested the delay of the game due to PlayStation trying to restructure itself and in September, he claimed that it will be Guerrilla Game’s next project.

We might have a release window

Now, some eagle-eyed users found a job listing by the game developer for a “Release QA Intern”.

In the listing’s description it is written that the candidate will be working on an “online project” and that they should be available during “the first half of 2025” to “ensure the game is prepared for launch”.

While assuming that the QA period will take its fair time to be finalized, we could estimate a release – or early access – for the second half of next year. Especially since the game will probably be a live-service multiplayer which are often released in an “unfinished” beta state.

Are you looking forward for a Horizon Online multiplayer? What do you expect from the game to feature?
